5. Upgrade any ZenPacks developed by you, the Zenoss community, or Zenoss Professional Services. For more in-
formation about installing and updating ZenPacks, see Zenoss Service Dynamics Extended Monitoring Guide.
Note
This step is critical. ZenPacks commonly include JavaScript-based additions or changes to the Resource
Manager browser interface, and incompatible JavaScript in outdated ZenPacks can disable the interface.
6. Delete browser caches, to avoid incompatibilities in the browser interface. For example, to clear the Firefox cache,
press Ctrl-Shift-R.
9.5.2. Registering 4.2.5 with ZenUp
Follow these steps to register Resource Manager 4.2.5 with ZenUp.
1. Download the following items from the https://support.zenoss.com site.
• The "pristine" file for Resource Manager 4.2.5.
• The current RPS (.zup) file.
Contact your Zenoss representative for login credentials.
2. Log in as user zenoss.
3. Register Resource Manager 4.2.5 with ZenUp by specifying the "pristine" file.
zenup init zenoss_resmgr-4.2.5-XXXX.elX-pristine.tgz $ZENHOME
The zenup command displays messages as it works.
4. Verify the registration.
zenup status
ZenUp displays information similar to the following example.
Product: zenoss-resmgr-4.2.5 (id = zenoss-resmgr-4.2.5)
Home: /opt/zenoss
Revision: 0
Updated On: timestamp
5. Switch user to root, or to a user with superuser privileges.
6. Configure Resource Manager to start when the host starts, and start the migration process.
chkconfig --level 2345 zenoss on
service zenoss start
The process takes at least 20 minutes, and displays many messages.
9.5.3. (Optional) Upgrading Windows Monitoring ZenPacks
This release of Resource Manager installs a more capable Windows monitoring ZenPack by default, and leaves undis-
turbed the ZenPacks included in the Windows Monitoring RPM file, which this procedure installs.
The new and old Windows monitoring ZenPacks co-exist gracefully—no automatic migration is attempted—and you
may transition to the new monitoring capabilities at any pace. In addition, updates to the ZenPacks in the Windows
Monitoring RPM file will be included in the recommended patch sets for this release whenever they are available.
